Adopt A Dog From One of These Organizations and Start Them On Fresh Food for Free

To celebrate Dog Person Day on September 24—and the fact that one of the most rewarding things you can do is adopt and care for a dog—The Farmer’s Dog is partnering with select rescue organizations to help adopters feed their new companions. If adopters begin a trial for their new dog between September 21, 2025 and October 4, 2025, they will be eligible to receive a free first box of The Farmer’s Dog and $300 in credits toward future orders. We’re offering adopters free food when they rescue a dog from a participating organization.

The Terms & Conditions for this giveaway—plus information on how to redeem—are below. But first, get to know the three wonderful rescue organizations partnering with us for Dog Person Day.

Tobie’s Small Dog Rescue

Meet Mama Scrappy, the 2-year-old terrier mix.

Tobie’s, which took its name from a Chinese Crested dog who lived to be 18 years old, is a Los Angeles–based rescue that provides temporary care for stray, abandoned, and relinquished dogs.

Their mission is to find forever homes with responsible and caring people for dogs that pass through their doors; to dispel the myth that rescue dogs are unpredictable or less desirable than other dogs; and to help to curtail overpopulation by stressing the importance of spaying and neutering. They believe in the humane treatment of all animals.

Ace of Hearts

Meet Theodore, a 5-year-old terrier mix available for adoption at Ace of Hearts.

Ace of Hearts was Founded by Kari Whitman, a celebrity interior designer and longtime animal rescuer. The organization is dedicated to rescuing dogs from Los Angeles shelters the day they are scheduled to be euthanized, and placing them in loving homes. It was named in memory of Whitman’s dog Ace, who was himself rescued from similar circumstances. The organization rescues dogs of all breeds and ages, but has a specific program that encourages senior citizens to adopt senior pets.

Ace of Hearts’ rescue office was recently lost in the LA wildfires. Learn more about what they lost, and how they’re rebuilding, here.

Halfway Home Animal Rescue

Black dog lies on wooden floors.
Meet Buster, who has enjoyed some necessary rest and recovery.

Co-founded in 2019 by Frannie Laurita and Paul Neuman, Halfway Home Animal Rescue is a safe haven for animals of all kinds, providing those recovering from traumatic circumstances with temporary sanctuary and a nurturing environment. Based in New Jersey, Halfway Home takes in more than just dogs; their all-volunteer team helps care for cats, rabbits, ducks, pigs, and more. They focus on animals who may be considered hard to adopt. In their words: “seniors, special needs, and the discarded are [the] priority.” The organization facilitates medical care for those who cannot afford it, donating food and even supporting owners facing homelessness or other hardships so they can continue caring for their companions.
