Scooby Doo
Twenty Paws Rescue in Brooklyn, NY
Approximate age: 1-and-a-half years
Approximate weight: 50 pounds
If you’ve looked at his photograph, you may have noticed that this particular Scooby Doo is not a Great Dane. But he does share with his namesake crinkly, floppy ears and a goofy energy. His current foster, Sheyna Horowitz, who brought him home in January after he’d spent two months in a shelter, reports that he’s a smart, happy boy who’s both potty- and crate-trained.
Likewise, he has “the cutest little snores” when he’s “sleeping curled up in blankets.” Once awake, however, Scooby is active and enthralled by anything that squeaks. Per Horowitz, his dislikes include wearing any clothing and also “citrus for some reason?!”
Scoob would love a family that enjoys long walks; said family could include polite dogs and kids over the age of 14 (he does jump when excited, so smaller kids aren’t advised—and neither are cats). Bailey
Twenty Paws Rescue in Brooklyn, NY
Approximate age: 7 years
Approximate weight: 61 pounds
Do you want a dog who shares your love of interior design? Bailey is the one for you. According to his current foster, Olivia D’Addario, “Every morning he rearranges all of his things and moves his blankets and toys out of the crate and around the room.” It’s so important to lay everything out just so.
This isn’t Bailey’s only playful quirk. After going outside in the morning, he gets the zoomies every time (what a joy!). He’s an affectionate dog who loves deeply once he gets to know people. However, he does need handlers who understand how to work with a dog who has protective tendencies. D’Addario has noticed that Bailey has been reactive toward some strangers, especially men. But Bailey has lived with men before, and D’Addario says that with patience and training he has learned to trust them.

Norman
Every Last One Rescue in New York, NY
Approximate age: 3 years
Approximate weight: 45 pounds
Norman hasn’t had the easiest life. He was found in the Bronx with scars on his body. From there he went to a shelter, and is now with a foster who describes him as “too pure for this world.” Difficult beginnings can create resilient creatures, and that seems to be what’s happened with Norm. He’s managed to become a completely open and affectionate dog.
Every Last One Rescue reported that he’s the “ultimate cuddle companion with a heart as big as his head” (a description all of us dream to receive). He’s both active and able to relax on a comfy spot—and his definition of comfy has range. The floor, couch, bed, dog bed—all them suit Norman. He’s eager to please, house-trained, and leash-trained… and is working on being crate-trained.

Sheena

Sheena is a dog for film and television connoisseurs. By that, we mean this girl loves to cuddle up and chill out with her people. She enjoys playing with toys and going for walks, too, but the couch calls to her.
Sheena was nonreactive when meeting a cat, and doesn’t seem to care about birds or even squirrels. She’s leash-trained and house-trained. She’s been child-tested and passed with flying colors (her foster mom even takes her to her babysitting gig). Mostly, she’s a happy, playful, calm dog who would be a wonderful addition to most homes. Tofu
Vintage Pet Rescue in Cranston, RI
Approximate age: 12 years
Approximate weight: 13 pounds
Tofu is small, yes. But her size belies her tremendously affectionate and loving nature, according to the volunteers at Vintage Pet Rescue in Cranston, Rhode Island. She’s been with the rescue since September. In that time, they’ve helped her through some health issues—including by excising a peripheral nerve sheath tumor. Her vet said it has very little chance of recurrence, and that she’s healthy today.
Tofu is a minimal barker (though she can’t help herself when her food is on the way); she gets along with everyone; and her gentle sweetness will improve anyone’s day, week, month, or year. If you’re interested in meeting Tofu, reach out to Vintage Pet Rescue.
